Ulysses represents rock bands using this literary name, referencing either the Greek hero or James Joyce's novel. Rock groups called Ulysses often demonstrate artistic ambitions suggested by the literary connection. Such bands contribute to rock's tradition of intellectually engaged music. Their work represents rock's more thoughtful possibilities.
