The Hives are a Swedish rock band from Fagersta known for their energetic garage rock and theatrical live performances. Their breakthrough album 'Veni Vidi Vicious' (2000) and single 'Hate to Say I Told You So' brought them international recognition as part of the garage rock revival. The Hives' black-and-white uniform image and frontman Howlin' Pelle Almqvist's charismatic performances distinguished them from contemporaries. Their influence on 2000s rock demonstrated that Scandinavian bands could compete in American-influenced genres.
