Roger Chapman is a British rock vocalist who first achieved fame as the lead singer of Family, one of the most respected British rock bands of the late 1960s and early 1970s. His distinctive, vibrato-heavy voice was immediately recognizable. After Family disbanded, Chapman pursued a solo career and led the Shortlist. His influence on British rock vocals and his role in Family's adventurous music established him as a significant figure. Chapman represented rock singing at its most distinctive and uncommercial.
