Genre: Progressive Rock
Quatermass were a British progressive rock band active in 1970-1971 featuring keyboardist John Gustafson and members who later joined Hard Stuff and Roxy Music. Their self-titled debut album combined heavy organ-driven rock with progressive complexity, earning cult status among prog enthusiasts. Named after the British science fiction character, Quatermass created ambitious music that fit the era's experimental spirit. Though short-lived, their influence extended through members' subsequent work. Quatermass represented the early progressive rock scene's willingness to combine classical influences with rock power.
