Phoebe Snow was an American singer-songwriter whose unique voice and eclectic style earned her critical acclaim and commercial success with her 1974 debut album featuring 'Poetry Man.' Her music blended folk, jazz, R&B, and blues influences, defying easy categorization. Snow's personal challenges, including caring for her severely disabled daughter, limited her recording and touring. Her powerful voice and distinctive vibrato set her apart from contemporary singer-songwriters. Snow's death in 2011 was mourned as the loss of one of American music's most distinctive voices.
