One Way System were a British punk rock band from Bristol who emerged during the UK82 punk movement. Their energetic, politically charged music earned them a following among punk enthusiasts. One Way System represented the second wave of British punk that maintained the genre's intensity and DIY ethics after the initial 1976-77 explosion. Though they never achieved mainstream success, the band influenced subsequent punk bands who valued authenticity over commercial ambition. They represented punk's continued vitality through the 1980s.
