No Dice were a British rock band formed in the mid-1970s who earned respect for their melodic, power-pop-influenced sound. The band featured Roger Ferris, whose songwriting demonstrated craft and commercial potential. Though chart success proved elusive, No Dice built a following on the pub rock circuit and released well-regarded recordings. Their music represented the power pop and melodic rock tradition that flourished alongside punk in the late 1970s. No Dice demonstrated that British rock included bands pursuing melodic excellence alongside more abrasive contemporaries.
