The Motors were a British rock band formed in 1977 by Nick Garvey and Andy McMaster, both formerly of Ducks Deluxe. Their sound combined pub rock energy with new wave influences, producing hits like 'Airport' and 'Forget About You.' 'Airport,' with its infectious hook and driving rhythm, became a power pop classic. The Motors represented the transition from pub rock to new wave, maintaining melodic songwriting while embracing contemporary energy. Though their commercial success was relatively brief, their recordings have been rediscovered by subsequent generations appreciating their power pop craftsmanship. The Motors demonstrated that catchy, hook-laden rock could thrive during the punk era.
