Artist: Kula Shaker
Genre: Britpop/Psychedelic
Kula Shaker were a British rock band who achieved success in the mid-1990s with their fusion of Britpop, psychedelia, and Indian musical influences. Their debut album 'K' featured hits like 'Govinda,' 'Hey Dude,' and 'Tattva,' which incorporated Sanskrit lyrics and Indian instrumentation. The band's interest in Eastern spirituality and 1960s psychedelia distinguished them from more straightforward Britpop acts. Though critical reception was sometimes dismissive, they achieved significant commercial success. Kula Shaker reunited in 2006 and continued recording, maintaining their eclectic approach. Their influence on subsequent bands incorporating world music elements into British rock was notable.
