Klark Kent was a pseudonymous project by Stewart Copeland, drummer of The Police, used to release solo material separately from his main band. The project produced singles including 'Don't Care,' which showcased Copeland's abilities as a multi-instrumentalist and songwriter. Klark Kent's recordings had a quirky, new wave character that complemented but differed from The Police's sound. The pseudonym allowed Copeland creative freedom while The Police was at their commercial peak. Klark Kent represented the era's tradition of musicians using alter egos to explore different creative directions without affecting their primary band's identity.
