Kingmaker were a British indie rock band from Hull who achieved success in the early 1990s with their energetic guitar pop. Their albums 'Eat Yourself Whole' and 'Sleepwalking' produced indie hits that earned them critical acclaim and a devoted following. Lead singer Loz Hardy's passionate vocals and the band's driving guitar sound made them popular on the indie circuit. Kingmaker were associated with the British indie scene that bridged the gap between late 1980s indie and Britpop. Though they disbanded before Britpop's commercial explosion, they influenced the movement's guitar-driven sound. Kingmaker represented the quality of British indie rock during a fertile period for the genre.
