Johnny Hallyday was a French singer, songwriter, and actor who became the most successful rock artist in any non-English-speaking country. Over a career spanning 57 years, he sold over 110 million records and became a French cultural icon. Hallyday introduced rock and roll to French audiences in the late 1950s and adapted his style through subsequent decades while maintaining his popularity. His concerts were legendary spectacles that drew enormous crowds.
