Johnny Burnette was an American rockabilly singer who achieved success in the late 1950s and early 1960s. With his brother Dorsey in the Rock and Roll Trio, he created some of rockabilly's most influential recordings. His solo career produced hits including 'You're Sixteen' and 'Dreamin',' showcasing a smoother pop sound than his earlier rockabilly work. The Rock and Roll Trio's 'Train Kept A-Rollin'' became a rock standard, covered by The Yardbirds, Aerosmith, and others. Burnette's career was cut short by his death in a 1964 boating accident. His influence on rock, through both his raw rockabilly recordings and his polished pop hits, earned him posthumous recognition as a significant early rock and roll figure.
