Artist: Here Lies Man
Genre: Afrobeat/Psychedelic Rock
Here Lies Man is an American band formed in Los Angeles by Marcos Garcia (of Antibalas) that fuses Afrobeat with heavy psychedelic rock, essentially creating 'Afrobeat meets Black Sabbath.' Their innovative approach combines the hypnotic rhythms of Fela Kuti with the heaviness of 1970s rock. Albums like 'Here Lies Man' and 'You Will Know Nothing' have earned critical acclaim for their original fusion of seemingly disparate genres. The band's instrumental approach emphasizes groove and intensity over virtuosity. Here Lies Man represents creative genre-blending at its most effective, creating something genuinely new from familiar elements. Their music appeals to fans of both Afrobeat and heavy rock seeking something different.
