Great White is an American hard rock band formed in Los Angeles in 1977, known for their blues-influenced hard rock sound that distinguished them from many of their 1980s contemporaries. Led by vocalist Jack Russell, the band achieved commercial success in the late 1980s with albums like 'Once Bitten...' and 'Twice Shy.' Their cover of Ian Hunter's 'Once Bitten, Twice Shy' became their biggest hit, while 'Rock Me' and 'Save Your Love' also charted. Their sound emphasized blues influences and melodic hooks rather than the flash and excess of some glam metal contemporaries. The band's career was tragically affected by the 2003 Station nightclub fire during one of their concerts, one of the deadliest rock concert disasters in US history. Despite this tragedy, Great White has continued in various forms, maintaining their blues-rock legacy.
