Grapefruit was a British pop-psychedelic band formed in London in 1967 and signed to Apple Records, the Beatles' label. The band was managed by Terry Doran, a close associate of the Beatles, and received significant support from John Lennon. Their sound combined pop hooks with psychedelic elements typical of the late 1960s. Singles like 'Dear Delilah' showcased their melodic approach. Despite their Beatles connections and initial hype, Grapefruit never achieved major commercial success, though they developed a cult following among collectors of late 1960s psychedelic pop. The band represents the many talented groups who emerged during the psychedelic era but were overshadowed by more commercially successful acts. Grapefruit's recordings are now appreciated by enthusiasts of the period's music.
