Artist: Grace Slick
Genre: Psychedelic Rock
Grace Slick is an American singer and songwriter who became one of the iconic voices of 1960s psychedelic rock as the lead vocalist of Jefferson Airplane. Her powerful, distinctive voice defined classics like 'White Rabbit' and 'Somebody to Love,' songs that became anthems of the counterculture era. Before Jefferson Airplane, she was in The Great Society; after, she continued with Jefferson Starship and Starship, achieving further commercial success with hits like 'We Built This City.' Slick's commanding stage presence and outspoken personality made her one of rock's most prominent female figures. Her vocal style influenced generations of rock singers with its combination of power and expressiveness. After retiring from music in 1989, she pursued visual art. Slick remains an iconic figure of the San Francisco psychedelic scene and 1960s rock culture.
