Artist: Entombed
Genre: Death Metal

Entombed are a Swedish death metal band formed in 1987 (originally as Nihilist), who became pioneers of Swedish death metal. Entombed's early albums, particularly 'Left Hand Path,' established the Swedish death metal sound with its distinctive guitar tone and melody-infused brutality. They pioneered the 'buzzsaw' guitar sound that became synonymous with Swedish death metal. Entombed later incorporated rock and roll elements, creating 'death 'n' roll' on albums like 'Wolverine Blues.' This evolution was controversial but influenced numerous bands. Despite lineup changes and legal disputes over the band name, Entombed's influence on death metal is enormous. They demonstrated that death metal could incorporate melody and groove without losing intensity. Entombed represents Swedish death metal at its most influential, establishing sounds and approaches that countless bands followed. Various incarnations continue performing.
