Dub Syndicate are a British dub group formed in 1982 by Adrian Sherwood, who became important in the UK dub and post-punk scenes. The group featured various musicians including Lincoln 'Style' Scott on drums, creating heavy, experimental dub that incorporated punk and industrial influences. Dub Syndicate's music was characterized by deep bass, echo effects, and Sherwood's innovative production. They worked with numerous artists on Sherwood's On-U Sound label, contributing to the UK's dub revival and influencing industrial and electronic music. Albums like 'North of the River Thames' and 'Strike the Balance' showcased their fusion of reggae dub with post-punk experimentation. Dub Syndicate represented British dub's more experimental, crossover approach, demonstrating that dub could incorporate punk and industrial elements while maintaining its Jamaican roots. They continue recording and performing sporadically.
