Crowded House are a rock band formed in Melbourne in 1985 by New Zealander Neil Finn after Split Enz disbanded. The band also included Paul Hester and Nick Seymour. Crowded House achieved international success with their sophisticated pop-rock sound featuring Finn's exceptional songwriting and melodic gifts. Their hits included 'Don't Dream It's Over,' which became a worldwide hit and remains one of the 1980s' most beloved songs, along with 'Weather with You,' 'Something So Strong,' and 'Better Be Home Soon.' Crowded House's music combined pop accessibility with musical sophistication, featuring clever arrangements and Finn's distinctive vocals. After initial disbandment in 1996, the band reformed in 2006. Hester's tragic death in 2005 was mourned widely. Crowded House represents Australasian pop-rock at its finest, creating timeless songs that balance commercial appeal with artistic integrity. They continue recording and touring, maintaining their reputation for quality songwriting.
