Corrosion of Conformity (often abbreviated as C.O.C.) are an American heavy metal band formed in North Carolina in 1982, known for their evolution from hardcore punk to heavy metal. The band started as a hardcore punk group before incorporating heavy metal and Southern rock influences. With albums like 'Blind' and 'Deliverance,' C.O.C. created a distinctive sound combining heavy metal with Southern rock grooves and sludge metal elements. The addition of vocalist and guitarist Pepper Keenan significantly changed their sound toward more accessible metal. Songs like 'Albatross' and 'Clean My Wounds' achieved success on rock radio.
