Cookie Crew were a British rap duo consisting of Susie Q and MC Remede, formed in London in the mid-1980s. They were among the first British female rap acts, pioneering UK hip-hop and achieving success when British rap was still developing. Their biggest hit was 'Rok da House' in 1987, which combined rap with house music influences and reached the UK Top 10. Other successful singles included 'Born This Way (Let's Dance)' and 'Got to Keep On.' Cookie Crew's music featured energetic rap delivery, house beats, and positive messages. They helped establish that British artists could succeed in hip-hop and that female rappers could achieve mainstream success. Despite their pioneering role and initial success, Cookie Crew's career was relatively brief. They represented early British hip-hop's energy and possibility, demonstrating that UK artists could contribute to hip-hop culture while maintaining British identity.
