Artist: Clive Griffin
Genre: Soul Pop
Clive Griffin is a British pop singer born in 1961, who achieved success in the late 1980s and early 1990s with his soulful pop-rock sound. Griffin's biggest hit was 'Head Above Water' in 1989, which showcased his powerful vocals and emotional delivery. He also scored success with 'I'll Be Waiting' and a duet with Celine Dion, 'When I Fall in Love,' which became a hit. Griffin's music combined soul-influenced vocals with contemporary pop-rock production. His powerful voice drew comparisons to other soul-pop singers of the era. Despite his vocal abilities and initial success, Griffin was unable to sustain a long-term commercial career in the highly competitive pop market. He represented late 1980s and early 1990s blue-eyed soul pop, demonstrating that British singers could deliver authentic soul-influenced performances. Griffin's vocal prowess was recognized even if commercial success was limited.
