Artist: Central Line
Genre: Funk
Central Line were a British funk and R&B band formed in London in the late 1970s, achieving success in the early 1980s. The band scored hits including 'Walking into Sunshine' and '(You Know) You Can Do It,' which became popular on both soul and pop charts. Central Line's music combined funk grooves with British soul and disco influences, creating accessible dance music. Their sound featured tight musicianship, horn sections, and smooth vocals typical of early 1980s soul-funk. While they achieved chart success and club popularity, Central Line's commercial peak was relatively brief. They represented British soul and funk's contribution to the early 1980s music scene, demonstrating that UK bands could create authentic funk and soul music. Their songs remain favorites among fans of 1980s soul and funk, and their music has been sampled by later artists.
