Artist: Bonnie Prince Billy
Genre: Alternative Country
Bonnie 'Prince' Billy is the primary musical pseudonym of American singer-songwriter Will Oldham, born in 1970. Oldham has released music under various names including Palace Brothers and Palace Music, but Bonnie 'Prince' Billy has become his most recognized moniker since the late 1990s. His music combines alternative country, folk, and indie rock with deeply personal, often cryptic lyrics delivered in his distinctive warbling voice. Albums like 'I See a Darkness' and 'The Letting Go' are considered landmarks of alternative country and indie folk. His music is characterized by emotional intensity, unconventional song structures, and willingness to explore dark themes.
