Artist: Bathory
Genre: Black Metal
Bathory was a Swedish black metal band formed in 1983 by Quorthon (Thomas Forsberg), considered one of the most influential bands in black metal and viking metal. Bathory's early albums essentially created the black metal template with raw production, aggressive sound, and satanic imagery. Albums like 'Bathory' and 'Under the Sign of the Black Mark' influenced the entire Scandinavian black metal movement. Quorthon later shifted toward epic viking metal with albums like 'Hammerheart' and 'Twilight of the Gods,' pioneering that subgenre. The project was essentially Quorthon's solo work. Bathory never performed live, maintaining mystery. Quorthon passed away in 2004.
