Art Pepper was an American alto saxophonist and clarinetist, considered one of the leading figures in West Coast jazz. Born in 1925, Pepper developed a distinctive style combining the cool, relaxed West Coast approach with deeply emotional expression. His career was interrupted by drug addiction and prison, but he achieved remarkable comebacks. Albums like 'Art Pepper Meets the Rhythm Section' are considered jazz classics. His playing influenced countless saxophonists with its technical mastery and emotional depth. He passed away in 1982.
