Artist: Arlo Guthrie
Genre: Folk
Arlo Guthrie is an American folk singer-songwriter born in 1947, the son of legendary folk singer Woody Guthrie. Arlo achieved fame with his 1967 talking blues song 'Alice's Restaurant Massacree,' an 18-minute narrative song that became a counterculture anthem and was adapted into a film. The song's anti-establishment humor and storytelling approach made it a Woodstock-era classic. Guthrie performed at the 1969 Woodstock Festival, cementing his place in 1960s folk-rock history. He also had success with his cover of Steve Goodman's 'City of New Orleans,' which became a hit in 1972. Throughout his career, Guthrie has maintained the folk tradition of his father while incorporating contemporary influences. He has toured extensively and recorded numerous albums, becoming a respected figure in American folk music. Guthrie represents the continuation of the American folk tradition across generations.
