Anthony Phillips is an English musician and composer, best known as the original guitarist and co-founder of Genesis, which he left in 1970 after contributing to their first two albums. Born in 1951, Phillips was instrumental in establishing Genesis's early progressive rock sound. After leaving due to stage fright, Phillips pursued a successful solo career focusing on instrumental and soundtrack work. His solo albums showcase his melodic sensibility and ability to create atmospheric, cinematic music. He has composed extensively for television and library music.
