Andy Gibb was an English-Australian pop singer and teen idol, born in 1958, who achieved major success in the late 1970s with a string of romantic ballads. The younger brother of the Bee Gees (Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb), Andy developed his own successful solo career with hits including 'I Just Want to Be Your Everything,' 'Love Is Thicker Than Water,' and '(Our Love) Don't Throw It All Away,' all of which reached number one in the United States. His good looks, smooth voice, and family connections made him a major teen idol. Unfortunately, Gibb struggled with drug addiction, which derailed his career in the early 1980s. He passed away in 1988 at the age of 30 from complications related to myocarditis. Despite his brief career, Gibb's hits remain popular examples of late 1970s soft rock and romantic pop.
