On 15th October 1984, The Pogues released their debut album 039Red Roses For Me039.
To celebrate the 40th anniversary, we039ll be releasing a 2CD set with a version of the 2013 remix plus a bonus disc of Bsides and BBC sessions from 1984.After four decades, Red Roses For Me is still celebrated as a groundbreaking debut album from an unlikely group of supposed neerdowells from Londons Kings Cross in the convulsive aftermath of the reelection of the Thatcher government.
The album mashes traditional songs and instrumentals about death and drink, love and London with those of frontman Shane MacGowan039s and all fuelled by the punk ethos
