NOW is proud to present the next instalment in our ongoing lsquoYearbookrsquo series ndash and take a trip back 50 Years in Pop history ndash with 48 tracks on 3 LPs, pressed onnbspGreen Vinyl, to celebrate a stellar year of Pop singles.nbspNOW ndash Yearbook 1974.Opening with lsquoKiller Queenrsquo the first Top 5 single for Queen, and followed by the classic lsquoJetrsquo by Paul McCartney amp Wings, and the still breathtakingly original, and hugely influential lsquoThis Town Ainrsquot Big Enough For Both Of Usrsquo from Sparks.

This epic beginning to the 1974 Yearbook continues with a run of lsquoglamtasticrsquo pop from Sweet and Roxy Music, and including 1s from Suzi Quatro, and the yearsrsquo biggest seller lsquoTiger Feetrsquo from Mud, before closing with Sladersquos lsquoFar Far Awayrsquo.

Flip the LP over for Elton John with one of his signature tracks lsquoDonrsquot Let The Sun Go Down On Mersquo, before some of lsquo74rsquos biggest Rock hits, including lsquoYou Ainrsquot Seen Nothing Yetrsquo, lsquoRadar Loversquo, lsquoDance With The Devilrsquo and Rod Stewartrsquos vocals on the Facesrsquo lsquoPool Hall Richardrsquo.

This LP signs off with lsquoMike Oldfieldrsquos Singlersquo ndash the lsquothemersquo from his era defining album lsquoTubular Bellsrsquo.LP2s first side is packed with huge hits including 6 1rsquos with charttoppers from David Essex, The Rubettes, Alvin Stardust and Paper Lace, plus a huge hit from Pilot and the first Top 3 single for the Bay City Rollers with lsquoShangALangrsquo.

1974rsquos biggest selling singles act was The Wombles, and their debut lsquoThe Wombling Songrsquo is up next along with the 1 global smash lsquoKung Fu Fightingrsquo from Carl Douglas, before closing with the ReggaePop 1 lsquoEverything I Ownrsquo from Ken Boothe.

1974 was a landmark year for Soul music, and it included the first global lsquoDiscorsquo smashes.

The next side opens with Barry Whitersquos 1 lsquoYoursquore The First, The Last, My Everythingrsquo before a run of iconic floorfillers from The Hues Corporation, Harold Melvin amp The Blue Notes, and a further 1 lsquoRock Your Babyrsquo from George McCrae.

The remainder of the side features four of the greatest Soul ballads of alltime from The Isley Brothers, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross amp Marvin Gaye and lsquoYou Make Me Feel Brand Newrsquo from The Stylistics.The final LP kicks off with the title track from the yearrsquos biggest selling album, lsquoBand On The Runrsquo from Paul McCartney amp Wings ndash followed by the timeless lsquoCandle In The Windrsquo from Elton John, the beautiful lsquoI Honestly Love Yoursquo by Olivia NewtonJohn ndash her first US 1, and the sublime lsquoThe Air That I Breathersquo from The Hollies, before a run of four songs John Denverrsquos lsquoAnniersquos Songrsquo, lsquoShersquo from Charles Aznavourrsquo, lsquoThe Three Degrees with lsquoWhen Will I See You Againrsquo and lsquoSad Sweet Dreamerrsquo from Sweet Sensation ndash all of which hit 1 in 1974.

The last side is an eclectic lineup of pure Pop heaven led by the 1s lsquoSeasons In The Sunrsquo from Terry Jacks and lsquoYou Wonrsquot Find Another Fool Like Mersquo from The New Seekers, and including Stephanie De Sykes, 10cc, and Lulu with lsquoThe Man Who Sold The Worldrsquo, featuring itrsquos writer David Bowie on backing vocals and production, before a second appearance from Sparks with lsquoAmateur Hourrsquo, plus Cockney Rebelrsquos lsquoMr Softrsquo, and Leo Sayer closing the collection with his debut hit lsquoThe Show Must Go Onrsquo.NOW ndash Yearbook 1974nbspndash A celebration of the diversity and wonderful creativity of a truly magnificent year in Pop.
