Ziggy Elman was an American jazz trumpeter who achieved fame with Benny Goodman's orchestra in the swing era. His virtuosic playing and compositions, including 'And the Angels Sing,' made him one of the era's most celebrated trumpet players. Elman represented swing-era jazz at its most technically accomplished. His influence on jazz trumpet was substantial.
