XTC were a British rock band from Swindon formed in 1972 whose witty, inventive songs earned them cult status and critical adoration. Andy Partridge's angular guitar work and clever lyrics, combined with Colin Moulding's melodic bass and songwriting, created distinctive music. Albums 'Drums and Wires,' 'Black Sea,' 'English Settlement,' and 'Skylarking' are considered classics. After Partridge developed stage fright, the band became a studio-only project, continuing to produce acclaimed work. XTC's influence on alternative rock was immense.
