X Clan were an American hip-hop group from Brooklyn whose Afrocentric philosophy and distinctive style made them important figures in conscious hip-hop. Their albums 'To the East, Blackwards' and 'Xodus' combined political messaging with innovative production. Brother J's commanding delivery and Professor X's production created powerful music addressing Black consciousness and history. X Clan's influence on conscious hip-hop and their representation of Afrocentric values in rap was substantial.
