The Woodentops were a British alternative rock band from London formed in 1983 whose energetic, eclectic sound combined indie rock with world music and electronic influences. Their album 'Giant' earned critical acclaim, while live performances were known for their intensity. The Woodentops represented the more adventurous end of 1980s British indie rock. Their willingness to incorporate diverse influences distinguished them from more conventional guitar bands. Though commercial success was limited, their artistic ambition earned them devoted followers.
