Artist: Wire
Genre: Post-Punk/Art Rock
Wire are a British rock band formed in London in 1976 who became one of post-punk's most influential and innovative acts. Their debut 'Pink Flag' compressed punk into minimal art-rock, while 'Chairs Missing' and '154' expanded into atmospheric territory. Wire's constant evolution—from punk through electronic experimentation to art rock—demonstrated remarkable artistic restlessness. Their influence on alternative rock, from R.E.M. to Elastica, was immense. Wire represented post-punk at its most intellectually ambitious and musically innovative.
