Warne Marsh was an American jazz tenor saxophonist associated with the 'cool jazz' movement and particularly with pianist Lennie Tristano's innovative approach. His distinctive, light-toned style and complex improvisations earned him respect among jazz musicians and enthusiasts. Marsh's influence on jazz saxophone, particularly within the Tristano school, was substantial. He represented cool jazz's most intellectually rigorous traditions.
