Urusei Yatsura were a Scottish indie rock band from Glasgow formed in 1993 whose noise-pop sound earned them critical acclaim. Named after the Japanese manga/anime series, their music combined abrasive guitars with pop hooks. The band's albums, including 'We Are Urusei Yatsura' and 'Slain by Urusei Yatsura,' earned positive reviews. Urusei Yatsura represented the noisier end of 1990s Scottish indie rock. Though they disbanded in 2001, they contributed to Glasgow's reputation for producing quality alternative bands during the era.
