The Tubes were an American rock band from San Francisco known for their elaborate theatrical stage shows and satirical approach to rock culture. Their hit 'She's a Beauty' achieved mainstream success, while their live performances were notorious for their outrageous content. Albums combined musical ability with conceptual ambition. The Tubes' influence on theatrical rock and their demonstration that rock could accommodate sophisticated satire was notable. They represented rock's most flamboyantly theatrical possibilities.
