Thompson Twins were a British new wave band who achieved international success in the 1980s with their synth-pop sound. Originally a larger ensemble, they became a trio of Tom Bailey, Alannah Currie, and Joe Leeway. Hits including 'Hold Me Now,' 'Doctor! Doctor!,' 'You Take Me Up,' and 'Lay Your Hands on Me' achieved global chart success. Their stylish videos and distinctive visual presentation made them MTV favorites. Thompson Twins' influence on 1980s pop and their demonstration of synth-pop's commercial potential was notable.
