Artist: The Psychedelic Furs
Genre: New Wave/Post-Punk
The Psychedelic Furs are a British rock band formed in London in 1977, led by vocalist Richard Butler and his bassist brother Tim. Their combination of post-punk atmospherics with pop accessibility produced hits including 'Love My Way,' 'Pretty in Pink' (later used as a John Hughes film title), and 'Heaven.' Richard Butler's distinctive raspy voice and the band's layered sound distinguished them from new wave contemporaries. The Psychedelic Furs' influence on alternative rock demonstrated that artistic integrity and commercial appeal could coexist.
