The Only Ones were a British rock band formed in 1976 whose blend of punk energy with sophisticated songwriting created distinctive music. Their song 'Another Girl, Another Planet' became a power-pop classic, later achieving recognition through covers and commercial usage. Peter Perrett's drawling vocals and the band's melodic approach distinguished them from punk contemporaries. The Only Ones' influence on power pop and alternative rock extended far beyond their limited commercial success. They represented punk's most romantically melodic possibilities.
