The Gun Club were an American rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1979 whose fusion of punk rock with blues created a distinctive and influential sound. Led by vocalist Jeffrey Lee Pierce, they pioneered what became known as punk blues. Albums like 'Fire of Love' influenced subsequent artists from Nick Cave to The White Stripes. Pierce's death in 1996 ended an influential career. The Gun Club represented rock's most intense fusion of punk attitude with blues feeling.
