The Dickies are an American punk rock band from Los Angeles formed in 1977 known for their humorous approach and high-speed covers of pop songs. Their covers of 'Banana Splits (The Tra La La Song)' and 'Paranoid' brought unlikely material into punk territory. The Dickies' cartoonish presentation and relentless energy distinguished them from more serious punk contemporaries. Their influence on pop-punk humor and their demonstration that punk could be fun was notable.
