That Petrol Emotion were a rock band formed in 1984 by members of The Undertones after that band's dissolution. Their music combined post-punk energy with dance rhythms and politically charged lyrics. Albums like 'Manic Pop Thrill' and 'Babble' earned critical acclaim for their adventurous approach. That Petrol Emotion represented the more experimental direction some punk-era musicians pursued. Though commercial success proved elusive, their influence on subsequent alternative rock was notable. They demonstrated that punk-rooted bands could evolve in creative directions.
