Artist: Teardrop Explodes
Genre: New Wave/Psychedelic
The Teardrop Explodes were a British band from Liverpool formed in 1978, led by Julian Cope. Their music combined new wave energy with psychedelic influences and Cope's charismatic eccentricity. Hits including 'Reward' and 'Treason (It's Just a Story)' achieved chart success. The band's brief existence produced influential albums before Cope pursued his adventurous solo career. The Teardrop Explodes' influence on subsequent British psychedelic pop and alternative rock was notable. They represented Liverpool's post-punk contribution beyond Echo and the Bunnymen.
