Sweet were a British glam rock band who achieved massive success in the 1970s with their combination of catchy hooks and hard rock power. Early hits written by Nicky Chinn and Mike Chapman—'Blockbuster!,' 'Hell Raiser,' 'Ballroom Blitz,' and 'Wig-Wam Bam'—established them as glam favorites. Their self-written material, including 'Fox on the Run' and 'Action,' proved they were more than a manufactured act. Sweet's influence on subsequent glam metal and power pop was substantial. Brian Connolly's distinctive vocals and the band's driving rhythms created anthemic rock. Sweet represented glam rock at its most powerful and enduring.
