The Sutherland Brothers (Gavin and Iain) were Scottish singer-songwriters who achieved success both as a duo and with their band Quiver. Their song 'Sailing,' later a massive hit for Rod Stewart, demonstrated their songwriting abilities. Their music combined folk-rock influences with accessible pop-rock. The Sutherland Brothers represented the quality of British singer-songwriter talent during the 1970s. Their influence extended through songs covered by more successful artists.
