Originally a bluegrass-influenced folk group, they developed into progressive rock with albums like 'Grave New World' and 'Bursting at the Seams.' Their hit 'Part of the Union' reached number two in the UK. The band's revolving membership included Rick Wakeman before his Yes tenure. Strawbs' journey through multiple genres demonstrated the fluidity of 1970s British rock. They represented the progressive folk-rock tradition at its most adventurous.
